Great Book!

This is the second volume of case studies using Master Tung distal acupuncture. It's similar to the first volume but with all new case studies. So if you liked Vol 1. than get Vol 2. but if you don't have any than get both. Brad Whisnant does an amazing job with this book. As far as I know it's the only case study book on Tung acupuncture which is a huge asset to anyone looking to study the Tung distal system. Dr Whisnant is a success acupuncturist that has been using the Tung system for many years and in this book he presents case studies from his own practice and explains how and why he treats. This is extremely helpful and it often feels like your with him in the clinic as he explains how he treats. I love this book because originally I found the Tung system confusing and difficult to learn because the other books I looked at presented very little theory and explanation, but Dr Whisnant pulls back the curtain and makes it easy and accessible to understand. I also highly recommend his first book "Mastering Tung Acupuncture" which goes deep into the basics and theory of Tung/distal acupuncture.

Fantastic books
By lola
Doing 4 days of a Tung acupuncture course earlier this year, transformed my practice. Brad and Deborah's books take this to the next level, with understanding the theory and combining points. I am constantly referring to the books to deepen my knowledge and get inspiration. Used the abdominal pain protocol last week and with outstanding results after 2 treatments. Worth every penny, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Love the diagrams for point location.

This is another practical book by Dr. Whisnant. The case studies and diagrams make things easy to convert to life in the clinic. I'm always amazed at his ability to relate effectively the teachings of Master Tung/Dr. Tan and how the work in a clinical setting.

How to Choose Your Colors

You can use any color combination to make a gorgeous piece of art―the possibilities are as endless as your imagination. Use several colors that are close together on the color wheel or choose colors that are opposite on the wheel.

Primary Colors

The primary colors―red, yellow, and blue―are denoted by a 'P' on the outside of the color wheel. Primary colors cannot be created by mixing any other colors.

Secondary Colors

The secondary colors―green, orange, and purple―are shown by an 'S' on the color wheel. These are formed by mixing the primary colors.

Tertiary Colors

Yellow-orange, red-orange, red-purple, blue-purple, blue-green, and yellow-green make up the tertiary colors, which are noted with a 'T' on the outside of the wheel. These colors are formed by mixing a primary color with a secondary color.

Last week I already received a proof copy of the new book by Duncan and Frank and I must say that I'm impressed. When you think - you know everything there is to know about HA and DRS, you should definitely read it. You will be amazed with the amount of detailed information about vSphere 4.1 DRS and HA clustering. Two other great takeaways are the "clear timelines" and "best practices".

Deepdive Makes a Comeback!

The term "deepdive" is regularly abused in the technology world these days. There's nothing more disheartening than walking into a one hour session at a conference entitled deepdive, and finding out that it's neither deep, nor a dive. It ends up being more like sitting in a couple inches of warm water in a plastic kiddie pool.

When these guys say deepdive, they mean it. This book is packed with helpful information from the first, to the last page. Somehow, they even manage to read minds. They know what you're thinking as a VMware administrator, and they'll tell you the why, and the best practice.

Lots of books have good overviews of HA and DRS, but none goes as deep as this. It's very well-written, and highly recommended for anyone who is running, or thinking about running an HA/DRS environment.

This book is, as Jeremy Clarkson would say, "absolutely brilliant"!

Solid work - great reference

I learned a few things by reading this book. That says a lot since I am not unfamiliar with this subject matter. In fact, I have been designing and using HA and DRS solutions since they were in beta several years ago. I like to think that I understood the material better than most people who might pick up this book.

Duncan and Frank are well-known in the VMware community, both via their blogs and their in-person work at customers and events. If you think you understand HA and DRS, and doubt that anyone could write an entire book on these topics, prepare to change the way you think. VMware HA probably has more advanced settings than any other VMware product except the hypervisor itself -- and those settings are listed and explained in this book, along with 'best practice' guidelines and design recommendations for general use cases. Not only are the features, knobs, and levers explained, but combinations and integration points are identified. Particularly useful are several examples and diagrams that reinforce often overlooked or misunderstood concepts.

While a little rough in some places, for a self-published book on a complex topic, I've got to commend the authors on their work and look forward to more from them. This is one of those books that is a fairly quick read, but will live near my desk for those times when I need to remember exactly how something works or the name of some configuration option.

An authoritative edition of a difficult Advaita classic

No mastery of Vedanta is considered complete without a careful study of the three texts that stand as the three starting points: the Upanishads, the Bhagavad-Gita, and the Brahma Sutras, a text traditionally attributed to Badarayana in which the teachings of Vedanta are set forth in a systematic and logical order.

The Brahma Sutras is a difficult but important scripture of Vedanta. It consists of 555 brief aphorisms which give the essence of the arguments on a topic and which are rich with implication. These aphorisms will always be found interspersed throughout a lengthy and detailed commentary, of which the most important for Advaitins is the Shankara Bhasya, since it would be quite impossible to understand them without some sort of commentary.

Swami Gambhirananda's edition of the Brahma Sutras (although not perhaps the most approachable in that it goes into far more detail than, for example, that of Swami Sivananda) is authoritative, thorough, and written in an impressively lucid and accurate English; we should all be grateful to him for the enormous labors he must have undertaken in order to make this Indian masterpiece available to an English-speaking audience.

The book is in dialogue form and consists in an attempt to refute the dualistic arguments of rival Vedic interpreters. Detailed arguments by these rivals of Advaita are cited. These attacks are then in turn analyzed, point-by-point and often in great detail, and refuted by the commentator who sees it as his task to establish the correctness of the Advaitic position.

The Vedantic philosophical tradition represents one of the highest pinnacles of philosophical inquiry and speculation to have unfolded within the human experience. A True Mirror of Acharya Shankara's Rich Metaphysical Thoughts

Brahmasutra Bhasya of Shri Shankara may be considered the apex of the pyramid of his commentaries on the triple canons of Vedanta (Prasthana Traya) viz., the Upanisads, the Bhagavadgita and the the Brahma Sutras. The venerable Acharya's razor-sharp intellect, his powers of dialectics, his unrivaled eloquence of exposition and his robust conviction of the the Truth of Nonduality ( Advaita) are fully in evidence in his outstanding commentary on Brahma Sutras. The author of Brahma Sutras is none other than the illustrious Veda Vyasa, the celebrated author of Mahabharata. The Sutras are laconic aphorisms that lend themselves to different interpretations by different schools of Vedanta. Because of their extreme brevity, they are hard to understand. It is to the eternal credit of Shankara that he has, out of his compassion for the scholarly community, correctly interpreted the Sutras in an exhaustive manner and established the the eternal validity and authenticity of Advaita on the basis of Sage Vyasa's cryptic Sutras. The book, albeit admittedly abstruse and brain-teasing, is a veritable repast to scholars who revel in grappling with recondite ideas and the dazzle of daring dialectics. A Sanskrit text dealing with complex and arcane ideas of Advaita is a hard nut to crack. It is certainly an astounding feat of literary and philosophical achievement that Swami Gambhirananda, one of the senior most monks of Ramakrishna Math, has provided a very lucid and faithful English translation of Shankara's matchless commentary. The Brahma Sutras are a forbidding terrain on which even the angels of philosophy fear to tread. The English translation by Venerable Swamiji of Shankara's profound commentaries on the Brahma Sutras Sutras is a signal contribution to the global treasury of philosophical thought and establishes Shri Shankara's incontrovertible claim to fame as a peerless and front-ranking giant of philosophy - a philosophy that is not just of an arm-chair variety but of an urgent and pragmatic importance. A concluding chapter draws together the different strands of argumentation, and the annotated list provides the background information on several hundred pidgins, creoles and mixed languages.
Diversity rather than unity is taken to be the central theme, and for the first time in an introduction to pidgins and creoles, the Atlantic creoles receive the attention they deserve. Pidgins are not treated as necessarily an intermediate step on the way to creoles, but as linguistic entities in their own right with their own characteristics. In addition to pidgins, mixed languages are treated in a separate chapter.
Research on pidgin and creole languages during the past decade has yielded an abundance of uncovered material and new insights. This introduction, written jointly by the creolists of the University of Amsterdam, could not have been written without recourse to this new material.
