Systems with fluid film bearings, cracked rotors and two spool rotors are also presented.

A first course on theory of vibration is a prerequisite to this study. Analysis used is fairly simple, but sufficiently advanced to the requisite level of predicting practical observations. As far as possible, practical examples are illustrated, so that the book is also useful to practising engineers.

A special feature of this book is diagnostics of rotating machinery using vibration signature analysis and application of expert systems to a field engineer in trouble shooting work.

This is a good introductory book into the principles and practice of leadership. It teaches about the leadership skills that are critical in today's highly dynamic operating environment where change is the only constant. In this case, it is essential to have leaders (rather than managers) who can provide the vision for the organization, show the direction and motivate people towards the realization of the vision.

The author clearly explains the critical attributes of a leader which include team building, good communication skills, decision making ability, and the ability to motivate and coach others for the effective accomplishment of goals.

The book is a good investment for those who in leadership positions, particularly those who are at the beginning of their careers in this field without much experience or previous training. The author gives useful tips which are excellent guide readers. The checklist at the end of each chapter is a useful tool to reinforce what the reader would have studied in the text.

If this book were an entr�e, it would mostly consist of meat and potatoes. Author Marlene Caroselli accompanies her valuable handbook on the basics of leadership with insightful quotations and anecdotes. "Basic" is the operative word here. The book makes no pretense, for example, of delving into the theoretical side of leadership development. Nor does it prepare managers for specific business tasks that they're more likely to encounter as leaders, such as budgeting and strategic planning. Rather, this book is specifically tailored for current managers who have leadership ambitions, and for newly minted leaders who need a little expertise to seize control of their new roles. We recommend it as a solid menu option with lots of good advice for that eager-to-lead audience. The book is thoroughly crafted to achieve its purpose, though more experienced readers may find themselves asking, "Where's the gravy?"

Days after finishing YNTG, I find myself revisiting the book - with highlighter in hand. I am using the real-life application exercises at the end of each chapter to develop a plan for a more deliberate, more fulfilling New Year. I believe that a wide audience - including recent grads, career-changers, parents concerned with an entitlement culture, and anyone in need of boost - will find YNTG a useful and entertaining addition to their library.

This is Not Your Typical Self-Help Book

Most other self-help books gush with praise for people telling them how awesome they are. Dr Crosby tells people how awesome they can become, and how to get there.

Although the title is misleading and controversial for a self-help book, it shocks the reader into not being complacent with the status quo, which is awesome, unless of course the reader wants to continue the status quo. In that case the reader should stop reading personal development/improvement books as they may change their situation which is not what they want.

It's definitely a great book for people who question they're self-worth and whether or not they are capable of accomplishing great things. The book shows how to tap into our own inner strengths and do those great feats and become that great person that we imagine ourselves becoming.

Even after having been a Christian for more than 25 years, having a degree in biblical studies, and serving on the foreign mission field for 15 years, i found this book informative, encouraging and practical. I had come to a place where I was bored and discouraged in my also infrequent bible reading times. After reading chapter the first chapter, I was back to regular bible reading and enjoying it!! Mediocre as an overview, good on development

When the casual reader buys a Vanguard book, it's for a general history -- some notes on development, some notes on deployment, some notes on upgrades and color schemes through the life of the vehicle, some notes on combat history, a short assessment of the vehicle's performance, and finally, if there's any space left over, a "where are they now" section for current service or where to find them in museums.

This book, which masquerades as an overview, is remarkably shallow on everything but development. In my opinion, that's a rather odd decision to make regarding a small folio-style overview with some color paintings in the middle of in-action vehicles. Most modelers will not be interested in knowing that on so-and-so a date, this experimental hull was modified in this-or-that way. The color plates are nice but there's little on the vehicle's usage to tie them into the text.

It doesn't help that the text is very dryly written.

Many of the other Osprey Vanguard books do a much better job at providing a good overview of the vehicles they cover, particularly the titles written by Zaloga. I'd pass on this one unless you are primarliy interested in the development of the vehicle.

This book is an invaluable source of information for plastic modelers building the German Tiger II.Color illustrations together with cutaway drawings provide accurate details of the interior layout of the tank.For future reference to the author, the addition of RAL numbers of paint colors as indexed to the colors in the illustrations in the book would be a possible improvement to be considered on this work.

This book is a small gem. Reference on this tank is as complete as can be packed in 48 pages. Not only development history is included, but also are packed gun tables, direct comparisons to opposite tanks, and unit history with order of battle. Unless you plan to buy Jentz and Hillary more complete books, this is a must for the modeller and historian!

Very well done

This book was recommended by Dr. Brent Lin, of the pediatric program at UCSF

While I bought it about a year ago, I only just finished reading most of it.
It's very well written. It's concise without missing anything.
Frankly, there's nothing that I can think to add or remove to this regarding the standard of care for pediatric dentistry.

Surprisingly, there's also a pretty well written section on pediatric practice management. There's also the best written material on the reconstruction of cleft lip and palate in any text that I've read.

This is the perfect book for dentists interested in understanding the standard of care, the protocols of treating kids, and the scientific rationale behind it.
The only possible complaint is that this isn't equivalent to a pediatric residency (however, no book would be).

Highly recommended.

It gets better with each new edition

I havc all nine editions and all new editions are nicely updated. The chapter on genetics for the
practicing dentist is excellent. It meticulously integrates the science of molecular biology and clinical dentistry. This text should be required for all pediatric dental residents to read.
