About the Author
Benjamin Graham was the author of many influential investment books, including the classic Security Analysis, now in its sixth edition. Rodney G. Klein is a Wall Street historian and former student of Benjamin Graham at UCLA. He founded the Klein Stock Market Museum & Library in Massillon, Ohio.
David M. Darst, CFA, is a managing director of Morgan Stanley. He serves as Chairman of the Asset Allocation Committee and Chief Investment Strategist of the Global Wealth Management Group. Darst was the founding president of the Morgan Stanley Investment Group.

Couple of good articles from young Graham, but mostly redundant.
I like to collect financial history and would count this as a collectable piece... but do not expect more than that.

Good compilation of articles - provokes thoughts

Graham is the value investing ideology the Warren Buffet follows. Buffet worked for Graham for a couple of years. "If you buy shares in a company you are an owner so only buy shares of a company you want to own".

One problem with articles is they are topical at the time but the companies referenced are no longer in business in most cases. So no hot stock tips (and of course the basis of value investing is there is no such thing as a stock tip).

What is interesting is to see the methods he uses. Most of it is common sense. But then again, common sense is not that common.

He placed a high emphasis on the balance sheet and the numbers. Although he does not ignore the fundamentals of what the business does, he does not spend as much time as I do in trying to vision the future. The other factor that seemed weak was the attention to management and entrepreneurial creativity within the companies he analysed.

It was interesting to see that Graham owned majority control of Geico at one point and now Buffet owns it.

If you are going to be an investor, it seems to me following Grahams' ideology is a good idea. Think like an owner - not a speculator.

great........for the correct reader

If you were a joint econ/history major you will love this book. It is super to read about the stock markets our grandparents experienced. Excellent commentary by Klein and Darst. The Graham article on Goodyear's experience in 1920-21 I found particularly interesting. Shows how little has really changed. Obviously if you are looking for current investment ideas, this isnt the book for you.
By way of background: I have been in this business for 33 years.

One of the greatest authors that has ever lived.

In his daughters book called "The Shape of Sunday"
by Virginia Douglas Dawson, Betty Douglas Wilson

They said of this book in chapter 3 "More Than a Prophet was less than a profit,"

This was his first book and he borrowed the money to have it published and he sold very few but carried the box(s) for many years.

His daughter said his last payment for the loan to publish this book was paid off when he endorsed his 1st royalty check from "Magnificient Obsession".

I saw a copy on Abe Books for a mere Price of: US $35,000.00.

Only of Historical Interest

Potential readers should be aware that this book is unlike any of the novels for which Lloyd Douglas is famous. It was published more than twenty years before his bestsellers, when he was newly graduated from Wittenberg College's divinity school. It is of historic interest because it was written just before he committed his life to an updating of the faith, to meet the demands of the modern age. There is nothing modern in this book, and there is very little in it that is even of earthly interest. The hero of the story is an angel, and much of the action occurs in the heavens. All the dialogue is in Elizabethan English.

Nevertheless, there is something wondrous about Douglas's narrative voice in this book. It has a strange cadence, like poetry. The landscape of the story is also more grand and sweeping than in any of his later novels, since it takes us beyond the material world. And it is fascinating to read his account of what happens to the devil and his army of mutinous angels - this from an author who, later on, was quite passionate about denying the existence of a devil. If you think you know Lloyd Douglas, this slender book is full of surprises.

It is a difficult book to read, however, and most readers would be best advised to avoid it. But for those who respect the mind of Lloyd Douglas and want to trace his evolution as a religious thinker and as a popular writer, it may be well worth the effort.

About the Author
Sheila Taormina is one of a handful of athletes who have competed in four Olympic games and the only woman in the world to have competed in three distinctly different sports--swimming, triathlon, and modern pentathlon. Although only 5' 2", Taormina refined her exceptional freestyle swim technique to win a gold medal in the 1996 Olympics and the 2004 ITU triathlon world championship. Highly recommend

I am a retired coach and was asked by my daughter to put together some training programs as she was competing in an 1.9 km open water swim. I started browsing the web and found these fully water proof training cards and thought Id try them a long with another set.

My daughter and I both love these cards and don't use the other ones at all. I hurt my back and hadn't been swimming for a month and couldn't believe the improvement in my daughters speed after only 4 x weeks!!!

Other people where we train have been questioning her technique and asking her her secret.

Well worth the purchase and if you are like me (I'm 49) and just want to keep fit it takes the boredom out of just doing lap after lap up and down a pool.

Lots of fun to do

You should be swimming at least a mile a workout already to be able to use these workouts effectively, and even then, you'll probably have to scale down the longer workouts. Still, I highly recommend these workouts because I think they're a lot of fun to use. Doing different drills breaks up the monotony much better than just swimming continuous laps until I was too bored to continue. I've also gotten a bit faster since I started doing these workouts.

My only complaint is that I wish there was more of a progression. As it is, there are three workouts a week, two around 2000 meters and one about 4000 meters. Ms. Taormina considers the 4000 meters a "slightly longer" workout, which is an absolutely ridiculous concept to this beginner swimmer. We're not all Olympic athletes, after all. I wish the program was such that you built up distance over time, adding meters every week, until you were able to do the 4000 meter workouts.

Great waterproof card workouts for triathlon training & improving your stroke

Love this set of waterproof card workouts! We started using these this year (after 6 years of tri training) and found the workouts are well thought out and progress in a logical fashion. The distance of the workouts in about 2100 yds to somewhere around 2700 yds (plus a handful of longer ones.) It's easy to scale the distance up or down as needed. Her drill workouts are really good and helped me improve my form & speed. I plan to work through these again and again. I've stopped using my "Workouts in a Binder for Swimmers, Triathletes, and Coaches" because these workouts seem to do a lot more for me and the distance for the workout is more reasonable.

About the Author
Khushwant Singh was born in 1915, in the Hadali village of Punjab, which is now a part of Pakistan. He is a widely read and well-known columnist and author in India. He was the editor of The Illustrated Weekly of India, The Hindustan Times and National Herald and the founder-editor of Yogana. The Mark of Vishnu and Other Stories was his first book, which was published in 1950. Over the past six decades he has published several best-selling nonfiction and fiction books.

About the Author

LINUS LARSSON and DANIEL GOLDBERG are two of Sweden's most important writers on new technology and the Internet. The rehashing of old blog posts by a militantly censorious and authoritarian far left fringe.

There is nothing new and nothing of value here, except a desperate attempt to push a narrative that is not supported by the facts nor resembles anything close to the realities of the industry.

Lacking anything in really new material that can't be found online, this 'book' is a pure money grab by people that can't hack it in the industry itself, have nothing of value to add and weren't even willing to write a whole lot of new material to publish it.

Unfortunately just a collection of blog posts you could find just as well elsewhere.

I wanted to like this book when I bought it, but it really wasn't what I was expecting. You can kind of save your money and just google the usual gaming sites, because most of what's been said here has been said before and about just as well. That's really the problem here, I was kind of expecting a stronger and more well constructed set of arguments then the usual strong opinion expressed as fact stuff you find on blogs now a days. There isn't really an over arching theme or high level in depth analysis into anything. (Though, from the tone of the writing, a few seem to think that's what they are doing, but again its that painful supposition based on supposition level stuff you find on most pseudo-academic blogs). In the end, that's really what it is; a loose collection of blog posts turned into a book. I guess when I read the title and saw who wrote it, I was expecting "The State of Play" - stuff that I could really sink my teeth into. Instead, I got chicken soup for the gamer. If that's what you want, that's fine, this is probably a 4 in that regard, but I really just wanted something a lot more substantial then this. Serves me right for buying just any old gaming book, I guess. Oh well.
