About the Author
Gerard J. Tortora is Professor of Biology and former Coordinator at Bergen Community College in Paramus, NJ, where he teaches human anatomy and physiology as well as microbiology. He received his bachelor's degree in biology from Fairleigh Dickinson University and his master's degree in science education from Montclair State College. He is a member of many professional organizations, such as the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society (HAPS), the American Society of Microbiology (ASM), American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), National Education Association (NEA), and the Metropolitan Association of College and University Biologists (MACUB).
Bryan Derrickson is Professor of Biology at Valencia Community College in Orlando, Florida, where he teaches human anatomy and physiology as well as general biology and human sexuality. He received his bachelor's degree in biology from Morehouse College and his Ph.D. in Cell Biology from Duke University. Bryan's study at Duke was in the Physiology Division within the Department of Cell Biology, so while his degree is in Cell Biology his training focused on physiology. At Valencia, he frequently serves on faculty hiring committees. He has served as a member of the Faculty Senate, which is the governing body of the college, and as a member of the Faculty Academy Committee (now called the Teaching and Learning Academy), which sets the standards for the acquisition of tenure by faculty members. Nationally, he is a member of the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society (HAPS) and the National Association of Biology Teachers (NABT).

Anatomy and Physiology Key to Great Grades

As a Nursing student, you need to take a mandatory Anatomy and physiology course to actively pursue in the study of Nursing. This class being one of the hardest "weed out" classes that Nursing students need to take, we need a book to show what the body does, how it works, and why. Principles of Anatomy and Physiology 14e binder edition does exactly this. Reading this book has helped me develop an understanding for Human Anatomy and Physiology. With the in depth explanations of processes the body undergoes, thought out thorough definitions, and diagrams, pictures and tables to make connections to the readings; all have yet to cease to impress me as I continue to read the book. This binder version is more affordable than the hard copy and comes with the same quality work inside. I recommend getting a 3 inch binder along with the purchase to keep it in great condition throughout the usage of this book. This is a GREAT BOOK and I recommend it to anyone interested in Anatomy and Physiology of the Human body.

I really like it. You're able to highlight it

I am currently renting this as a Kindle digital version on my laptop. I really like it. You're able to highlight it, take notes, make note cards, and you can copy and paste it so it makes note taking much easier and you can easily search words. This was also much cheaper than either buying or renting a hard copy of the book and you don't have to deal with shipping. I'm a big fan of going digital so I highly recommend this.

Having perused the first volume - "Principles of Anatomy and Physiology: Organization, Support and Movement, and Control Systems of the Human Body" - I'm quite impressed. The illustrations and photographs are bountiful, having the appearance of clarity. I'm eager to begin studying! The contents are as follows:

Unfortunately, the second volume was not included with this purchase. Yes, I had read other reviews indicating the same omission, but I was hoping my seller would be that person of integrity who would send both books, as nowhere was it indicated that I was only buying the first of two volumes . . . no such luck.
Fortunately, I found the second volume by searching for the textbook's title - and including "volume 2" in the search - and have just now ordered "Principles of Anatomy and Physiology: Maintenance and Continuity of the Human Body".
